Training available from our educational psychologists

Our educational psychologists provide training and development support to schools and to teams within the council's Children, Schools and Families directorate in the following ways:

  • school-based and centre-based training for schools and other agencies
  • arrange conferences for teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools
  • contribute to school action research projects
  • support schools as they take on project and development work in line with their school improvement plans
  • contribute to diploma and post-graduate courses.

Booking information for educational psychology courses

For details of upcoming courses, please see the information below.

Surrey's educational psychologists can also create and deliver bespoke training packages on a range of topics, including mediated learning, metacognition, executive function and maximising the use of Teaching Assistants.

Please note when booking a place on a course:

  • To book your place, please log onto Surrey Education Services portal.
  • Courses tend to be over-subscribed with waiting lists held. Where you are no longer able to attend, please inform business support as soon as possible so that your place can be reallocated.
  • There will be no reduction in charge for a second person attending a course. If three school staff attend there will be a 15% discount for the booking. Please note, some courses are limited to two places per setting.
  • We are committed to reducing the resources used in courses and where possible will circulate training materials electronically in advance.
